Camel Tours

Camels have been called ships of the desert because of their numerous and unique physical traits that enable them survive in harsh desert climates, particularly their ability to survive on very little water. They can go as much as a week (in hot weather), and sometimes months (in colder temperatures) without water. They are also able to glide across the desert without sinking into the sand. The type of camel found in Jordan is called a dromedary, with one hump. Unlike the popular belief, camels do not store water in their hump, which is used instead for storing fatty tissue which they turn into energy when needed.

Camel tours are the perfect way to explore Wadi Rum and experience the Bedouin lifestyle. All tours start from the Wadi Rum Visitor’s Center. Our representative will meet you there and assist in your transfer to Rum Village to start your camel tour with one of our professional camel guides.
